Have you ever wondered what music therapy looks like? When parents and caregivers call us at Toneworks, we hear them say, “Oh my child loves music!”. It is our job as board certified music therapists to take that love of music and use it to improve skills and increase strengths in other areas our client’s lives.
But how does music help our clients? It can look many different for each individual client or group. Some of our clients work on playing a drum set to improve self-regulation, participate in an adaptive band to encourage peer interaction, or use progressive muscle relaxation with music to reduce anxiety and promote relaxation.
Music Therapy services can be reimbursable from several funding sources.
1) Consumer Support Grants
2) Family Support Grants
3) MN State Waiver Programs- CDCS: CADI, CAC, BI, DD, ED
4) Health Savings Account (private insurance)
5) Flexible Spending Account
6) Private insurance
On Saturday, May 2nd, we would love to have you join us for an afternoon of musical exploration. RSVP to reserve a free 20 minute personal session, or drop in between 1-4pm to play some instruments, learn how music therapy can help you, and meet some of our fantastic board certified music therapists.
Toneworks’ Spring Open House is a family event. We love to include parents and siblings in our sessions as a way to transfer those learned skills to other environments. You are encouraged to come watch or join in! And of course, follow our blog to keep up to date with new activities for you to do at home!
