If you don’t own this book, I would recommend going and buying it immediately for your arsenal of singable books!! The classic “Do you know the muffin man” is the perfect tune for the book. At each “stop” that Dan the Taxi Man makes, he picks up a different member of a rock band! Each of the musician’s names rhymes with the instrument they play i.e. Maureen plays the tambourine, Tyrone plays the saxophone. When he picks up each musicians, you also get to try to mimic the sounds of the instrument with your voices. See the picture below for more details.
This book addresses a number of goals like expressive communication, academic skills, focused play, sequencing, and joint attention.
If you happen to have a tambourine, saxophone, electric guitar, snare drum, and upright bass, you could put the whole band together while you read the book!
