DIY: Sensory Bag

Hello and happy Wednesday!

Today we have a super fun, easy, and multi-sensory craft that anyone can complete at home! All you’ll need is:

Ziploc bags (freezer bags are recommended)

Hair Gel

Stars, marbles, or any other fillers

Duct Tape

First, you fill the Ziploc bag with hair gel.

As you fill the bag with hair gel, add in whatever filler you choose to use (we used glow in the dark stars and marbles!)  Once your bag is as full as you would like, carefully seal the Ziploc bag and run duct tape around the bag for reinforcement!

I loved how the glow stars turned out! They are fun to play with and look at in the light, but even cooler when you turn the lights out! Be sure to be careful with fillers like stars though, as it is easy to puncture the bag.

The marbles also turned out to be very fun! While the marble bag is visually stimulating, what I loved most about it is the tactile input of feeling the marbles, and moving them through the bag.

The end product offers some great sensory input for kids (and adults), but what I loved was how fun it was to make them! The act of pushing the hair gel and fillers through the bag, combined with the pleasant smells of the hair gel itself made for a fun multi-sensory experience!

Thank you for reading, we hope you enjoy!
